Litigation and Appeals - Our firm represents and advises clients who are or might become involved in a lawsuit or appeal as a result of a dispute, including prevention and settlement, in such areas as personal injury and employment claims, contract disputes, and family law and commercial matters.

Business/Corporate Practice Group - This department represents our clients through all phases of their corporate existence. We consult with clients as to the appropriate choice of entity and prepare the necessary documents. We represent clients regarding contract, collections, real estate, and employment law issues. We assist clients with creating and executing exit strategies for their business, whether through sale, liquidation, or family transfers.

Municipal Law and Bonding - Since the firm's inception in 1939, Ohnstad Twichell, P.C. has represented numerous cities of various sizes, providing legal assistance in the areas of civil and criminal litigation, general problem solving, and the drafting of municipal ordinances. The firm is also active in municipal bonding and financing, representing cities, school districts, counties, water resource districts, and other political subdivisions across the state of North Dakota and in Western Minnesota , facilitating these entities in issuing tax exempt bonds. Two members of the firm, Brian Neugebauer and Daniel Twichell, are Nationally Recognized Bond Counsel, and collectively issue an average of fifty bond opinions per year.

Real Estate Practice Group - Our firm represents both commercial clients and individuals in all proceedings and transactions that deal with real property-land and the structures attached to it-including purchase and sale, construction, mortgages and foreclosures, leases, zoning, title examinations, quiet title actions, closings, and management.

Probate/Estate Planning Practice Group - Our firm handles Estate Planning matters which is the area dealing with the distribution of an individual's property at his or her death, taking into account wills, taxes, insurance, property, and trusts so as to gain maximum benefit of all laws and, at the same time, carrying out the person's wishes. Probate is the court proceeding through which a will is proved to be valid and the estate of a decedent is administered.

Tax Department - Our firm represents individuals and commercial clients in matters with tax implications, identifying and addressing state and federal tax issues, structuring transactions in such a way as to minimize taxes and avoid inherent tax problems.
